Murder Ladies get 2nd at Boggs!
Team Murder Ladies got 2nd Place in the 3 person women’s relay category at the Boggs 8 hour mountain bike race. After crushing hangovers at Taco Bell on the way to Boggs Demonstration forest, the team was in fear of the heavy rain that plagued the trip. The owner of a tiny bike shop in Cobb, California described the Boggs course as “the backwards way of riding the loop” and told the ladies to get ready for misery. Here’s Lara’s recap:
-A few months ago Ian talked Sarah and I into signing up for BOGGS; an eight hour mountain bike race, which we could do as a relay team. Not too many weeks later, Amanda joined our team. Her crass words and high spirits helped ease the rising intimidation factor. Between the three of us, Amanda had the the most mountain biking experience, Sarah had the most racing experience, and I had the most off-road (cyclocross) racing experience. With all that said, none of use had raced seriously in some time and our goals were to finish without hyperventilating and without getting hurt. Initially we wanted to get there early to pre-ride the course and get a good nights rest, but we drove into camp during a torrential down-pour and just tried to stay warm.
Saturday morning came fast and before I really knew what was happening, the race started and I found myself surrounded by hundreds of mountain bikers slogging up a long, windy, fire road. The course managed to bring together a variety of elements: undulating hills, tight turns, climbing, descending, rocks, roots, logs, peanut-butter like mud, and of course freezing rain! Okay, well maybe they didn’t plan on the rain, but regardless, after all that, our team of misfits managed to get 2nd place! Hell YEAH Team MURDER!!! Watch out for next year!!-
Next time bring toe covers! Here are the towels Lara had duct taped to her sidis!
2nd Annual Hanx Race Murdered
Team Murders very own Steve “Baby Murder” came home with another victory for the team with a one hour free tattoo session at Dermafilia on mission street. Also the racers got a nifty spoke card and a limited edition Hanxs Patch.. The race consisted of two check points because of the rainy weather. A sprint from the start point at 17th and connieticut across the street from the parkside to the cliff house parking lot. Then after a dash to the memorial grounds at Kellys Bar at china basin, from there the racers had to dash to Benders Bar for the finish… It was real close with Baby Murder fighting for the win against Special- T messenger Matt “Sardene”
Alot of fun and ofcourse not the end of victories from Team Murder…

MURDER Mash HMB Ride
Last saturday Chas and I rode from SF to Half Moon Bay and back in about 3hrs and 45 min… i think it was 60-70 miles.. And these are some of the pics i snapped on my phone.. Enjoy! It was crazy the great highway was closed from sloat to lake merced so we enjoyed not fearing for our lives for a couple minutes.
